Hives and Swelling
Urticaria (hives) are itchy bumps on the skin that can appear anywhere on the body. They may look and feel similar to mosquito bites. Angioedema (swelling) may occur at the same time as hives or may occur on their own.
Hives/swelling are sometimes a sign of an allergic reaction, but not always. If you are experiencing hives or swelling, your allergist will ask you some questions to determine the cause. Depending on the details of your symptoms, allergy testing may or may not be necessary.
